Things That Make You Love And Hate Clint Dempsey | Clint Dempsey

Clint Dempsey is an American former soccer player, who currently plays as a forward and goalkeeper. Over his international career, he has played for the US National Team and helped his country to become world champions in 1991. He is the only player of the generation that won't be able to be given a statue of honor due to his injury, which came during the World Cup quarter final against Mexico. He is one of the few Americans to have represented his country in four different tournaments. However, Clinton Donne, Pele and Maradona were chosen ahead of him by the organizers. Clinton Donne was given the chance to captain the side and even played the part of a famous comeback against arch rivals Brazil in the semi final of the 1994 World Cup.

Clinton Donne is the son of a Scotland international player called Billdon and was touted as the next big thing at the time. In fact, Donne started out with a goalkeeping position but was given time on the bench in favour of younger players. The manager at the time, Harry Red Knapp, thought that Donne was playing too slowly and decided to give the young player a chance in the centre of the park. Donne's first ever game for the States was a 3-0 victory over Venezuela and he went on to make two more appearances before being injured again. This setback did not deter the Scottish international from achieving great success later on in his career.

Clinton Donne made his name in American football by starting out at left back where he impressed on the international stage. He made eleven appearances for the US national team, of which four were played against other nations. He made his debut in the quarter finals of the 1996 World Cup and impressed the coaches with his performances. He even featured in the semi finals of the Cup, which the Americans eventually lost to Germany.

A year later, he became a regular on the right wing for the MLS side Houston Rockets. In this time, he was voted into the starting eleven for the MLS opener against Chelsea in Houston. Donne has also impressed in MLS with his goalscoring capabilities. He currently leads the MLS in scoring with 14 goals so far, although teammate Juan Pablo Angel has bagged a few too. Angel is currently tied for second place with FC Barcelona with seven.

Clinton Donne's influence on the soccer team that he plays for cannot be understated. The Scotland international has consistently provided great service and support to the Scotland side. He is currently second only to legends Neil Lennon and Brian Clough in all round play.

Clinton Donne is a soccer god. It is really no surprise that his name is spoken in hushed tones around the world. For those of you who do not know, give him a call. You may just find out exactly why he is considered one of the best all time. For those of you who know all about him, you will also understand exactly how special he is to his team, the Liverpool football club, and to the wider soccer world.
